Family party

Yesterday I helped Mum preparing a small family party. My eldest cousin, Gábor and his family was invited; Gábor’s parents also popped in later. I baked scones with sheep curds. It is a common cake in Hungary made in a variety of ways. My favorite recipe comes from the cookbook written by the wife of a very famous Hungarian writer, Ferenc Móra. Mum made pasta salad and chicken salad, Anna, Gábor’s wife showed up with some chocolate cakes.

Gábor’s children are the first kids in the family who were born after I became an adult. When I was a kid, Gábor – who is eight years older to me – treated me very kindly. Then I resolved when growing older I would behave the same way with kids. Fortunately, Gábor’s children are really easy to like. They are funny, clever, and make me laugh very often. Unfortunately, they were a bit ill yesterday. They grew tired relatively soon — I felt sorry for them. I remembered how much I hated to be ill when I was a child.

When I left home, decieved by the sunshine, I did not take a sweater with me. Of course, being mid October, the air became quite chilly by the evening. With no more sweaters Mum could have lent me, she lent me her car instead. Unlike the sweaters, this I definitely have to return today.
